Contrary to the claim of the custom PD-because tag used by this file showing a 1947 stamp from Ecuador, stamps are not in the public domain in Ecuador, see Commons:Stamps#Ecuador. In general, Ecuador has a copyright term of 70 years pma, so while a 1947 work could be in the public domain, but we'd need some evidence that this stamp is in the PD both in Ecuador and the US. If there is any other legitimate reason these can be retained (e.g. expired copyright), I'm happy to accept that. I think the format is good and such an image contrasting these three related stances is and was needed. However, the implementation/execution isn't good as one can infer from the issues pointed out. In addition the image for naturalism may not represent it well and may not be CCBY. So I think the best solution would be to create a new version of this image which is accurate and useful. If that isn't done then I'd be for

Delete. You could create an entirely new image with the same concept or modify this image in some image editor to at least replace those texts (probably also the image for naturalism). Thanks for making this DR, could you edit the image? More explanatory infographics (btw the more graphics and the less text the better) about these three and philosophy would be useful, most WMC content is just photos and images are especially rare in this area. It's an unusual aspect ratio for a postcard, there's no visible edges that show it's postcard material, and the staining at bottom is more typical of a glass plate than a postcard. What makes you sure it's a postcard? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:35, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The aspect ratio and edges are based on whoever scanned and cropped the image. You can say the same for any image where you cannot see the edge. Postcards tend to have descriptive text, as does this image. I could see arguing that it remained unseen by the public if we found it in a commercial archive like Getty Images, that buys historic images directly from photographers. Postcards also have numbers on the image, so they can be reordered. We do not have enough examples to find the exact publisher, most likely French, since the text is in French, from when it was French Indochina. There is no evidence that this is PD-old-70; the page does not mention the photographer or author, nor any attempt to find them.
