cropped of a photo of a video in a screenshot, this video is probably from the era 1978-1980 when Videla was president, not in PD-AR-Movie in this case. 2800:810:446:7F9:F900:328E:5D96:CC2E 04:08, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So sorry for the author. This is a photo of a video in a screen, there is no data but maybe its from the period 1978-1980 when Videla was president. De minimis is not applyng in this case. PD-AR-Movie not elegible 2800:810:446:7F9:F900:328E:5D96:CC2E 04:11, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The whole map (which is the obvious point of focus/interest here) is obviously under copyrights, and thus unsuitable for Wikimedia Commons, especially since there's no FOP in Greece. 🏺ⲈⲨⲐⲨⲘⲈⲚⲎⲊ🏛️ ⲱⲑⲏⲥⲁⲧⲉ 07:35, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apparent copyright issue. The file is described as "own work", but in the edit of the same user on enwiki the caption is "Official portrait of Hoxha, c. 1976" Rijikk (talk) 08:23, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This photograph of Enver Hoxha was taken on the orders of the Albanian government of the time. I have posted it on Wikipedia for the benefit of all people. I would not like this photograph to be removed.
This photograph has no copyright. The owner of the rights to this photograph was Enver Hoxha, who is no longer alive. Everyone is free to use it. Wiedza Prawdziwa (talk) 11:14, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If so, then you uploaded the file under the wrong license. It is not "your work", and you need to clearly indicate the origin of the image. In addition, it looks a bit like a computer-generated image. Have you edited it in some program? Rijikk (talk) 07:36, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Keep. No, because File:CHE_Paradiso_COA.svg (the flag of the municipality of this club) is PD. The logo of the club is obviously a derivative of the flag. PaterMcFly (talk) 18:49, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See {{Coa blazon}}: This coat of arms was drawn based on its blazon which – being a written description – is free from copyright. Any illustration conforming with the blazon of the arms is considered to be heraldically correct. Thus several different artistic interpretations of the same coat of arms can exist. Sometimes, the design officially used by the armiger is likely protected by copyright, in which case it cannot be used here. I don't know how the law is in Switzerland but I know that in Sweden the design used officially is copyrighted eventhough the version uploaded to Commons is very much like it. Jonteemil (talk) 19:10, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder however if the lion might be covered by {{PD-CoA-Switzerland}} and thus PD. Jonteemil (talk) 19:12, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It sure is, that's why I linked to File:CHE_Paradiso_COA.svg, which shows the same lion and is obviously covered by {{PD-CoA-Switzerland}}, because it's the CoA of an existing municipality. PaterMcFly (talk) 15:40, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This file was initially tagged by Eric Duff as Logo (Invalid license, not a simple image or text only.) Yann (talk) 10:18, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is obviously too complex to avoid a copyright, but if it is based on an earlier public domain version, then it may be OK. The source must be provided. Yann (talk) 10:20, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I changed the source of the original image of his proclamation as mayor of Messina of 16 June 2022 of which the image uploaded by the user and passed off as "own" is a clipping. Blatant copyright infringement. --Kasper2006 (talk) 14:48, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kasper2006: These are different photos, with different lighting and background. They may be of the same event with the same subject dressed the same. @Natacha LSP: It may have been better to overwrite this file and request deletion of the original revision. Since the cropped version is in use, it might be better to leave the files as they are. But it will create confusion when people see that the crop exists but the original file does not. Brianjd (talk) 14:14, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Author requested deletion via email but it doesn't comply with G7 speedy deletion criterium because the file is used on Polish Wikipedia and Wikidata. However, it still qualifies for deletion due to inproper use of PD-Polish template. This PD criterion requires publication without a copyright notice before 1994 and such source has not been stated in the file description. ~Cybularny Speak? 12:04, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Keep per PD-Poland. Michalg95 (talk) 12:15, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Michalg95: Where is "publication without a copyright notice before 1994" documented?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:34, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Keep I also agree per PD-Poland. We follow US copyright case law, an image is made public when it leaves the custody of the photographer. I could see arguing it never left the custody of the creator if we found a copy in a commercial archive like Getty, where Getty is making a copyright claim. --RAN (talk) 21:55, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Photo must be PD under both Polish and US law. To prove PD under Polish copyright a source from before 1994 including that material without a copyright notice must be provided. Otherwise the photo cannot be hosted on Commons even if it's somehow PD in the US. ~Cybularny Speak? 00:00, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
