Logo of an organisation, license does not appear to be valid, seems likely to meet Australia's threshold of originality for copyright protection (COM:TOO Australia). Adam Black talkcontributions 00:55, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies I believe I have probably selected the wrong license. I work at the State Library of Western Australiaand am trying to update our logo to match our current branding on behalf of the organisation who owns the logo. Nic McL (talk) 04:37, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see where AI is possibly involved here; and badly researched history maps are the norm on Commons. The map is in use, what is so bad specifically? Do you have counter-sources or a better map to replace it? --Enyavar (talk) 21:25, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The inscription クラゲ is written with a stylization that could hardly be a typeface and could be a unique manuscript written by one person, therefore there is a possibility that it exceeds the threshold of originality. Taichi (talk) 08:07, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted logo, source does not say anything on CC. EnWiki marks the same logo as non-free. WindEwriX (talk) 09:18, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is quite simple and could be below the threshold of originality in the US Bedivere (talk) 05:08, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think we would need further explanation as to the context of this photo. It says it is a book launch presentation and it was done at the National Library of Singapore. It might be relevant / worthy of keeping. Bedivere (talk) 18:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Emilio Segrè Visual Archives is composed of copies of images received from various donors and sources; we do not claim copyright to most images in our collections. We provide as much information as possible in our credit line and metadata; if the American Institute of Physics (AIP) is listed as the copyright holder of an image, you may use it freely without permission. If a non-AIP copyright holder is listed, we may have contact information on file and ask that you reach out to us at nbl@aip.org. Responsibility for clearing copyright for publication or public display remains with the applicant. Users with questions pertaining to copyright liability should seek their own legal counsel, as we do not provide such guidance. Please be advised that the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives will not sign any publishers' forms or any legal contracts pertaining to the use of our images. https://www.aip.org/history-programs/niels-bohr-library/rules-use-and-publication Endebyrd (talk) 15:21, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Keep I am not sure if this is a reason for deletion, it appears to be a cut and paste explaining the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives policy without explaining how this image violates our/their policy. This belongs at the top of their category. Ossip Garber, the photographer died in 1951, more than 70 years ago, and I cannot find any copyright registrations under his name, assuming the studio was a sole proprietorship or "Ossip Garber Studio", assuming he may have hired anonymous workers to operate the camera. I will move a copy of this message to the category page. We should probably have a template with this wording like we have for images that originate with the Library of Congress {{LOC}}. --RAN (talk) 17:41, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

German artist de:Walter Günteritz died in 1962,so these 1921 emergency banknotes are not in the public domain in Germany yet, and the files should be deleted. They can be restored in 2033.

Unknown author couldn’t have been died 70 years ago, no evidence of PD. Quick1984 (talk) 19:55, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment A version of the image is here at the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art. If I'm reading things correctly, this is held in ф.3456, which is papers from Anna Berzer who worked on Nekrasov's memoirs. No photographer listed as best I can tell (in the archives or in instances where the image is used), but it does confirm a date of 1945, which would leave {{PD-Russia-1996}} as a possible valid PD license. —Tcr25 (talk) 16:58, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Most likely previously published on Facebook or X: FBMD code and/or Twitter transmission code seen at the metadata. Proof of identity verification of the true copyright holder (the photographer) via email correspondence is required for images previously published on social media so to confirm if the uploader is indeed the photographer (the copyright holder) of these images and that the photographer (the copyright owner) has applied the license as indicated, as there have been numerous cases on Wiki before (and up to now) that the uploaders just grabbed images from Facebook or other social media sites. For email template, see COM:VRTS#Email message template for release of rights to a file. Better still, have the originals overwrite these FB-derived images, if the images are truly self-photographed works of the uploader.

A JPG version of File:BARRYCANTSWIM01.tif exists in File:BARRY01.jpg, so I don't think a 102 MB TIF file is within commons:Scope. GeorgR (de) (talk) 20:42, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
