That is not usually a valid reason for deletion. Keep Das ist kein Löschgrund. Auf jeden Fall ist der Prozess umgekehrt: Lade erst eine neue Datei hoch und dann, wenn die alte wirklich viel schlechter ist und nicht mehr gebraucht wird, kann sie eventuell gelöscht werden. Beachte aber, dass Bilder nicht gelöscht werden, blos weil sie alt sind oder ein Gebäude in einem früheren Zustand zeigen. PaterMcFly (talk) 11:51, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep That assumes that Kravets was the photographer as well as author. The only art credit in the book is for the front cover illustration ("Обложка худ. Г. С. Смеловой"); the rest of the art includes a mix of photographs and illustrations. It's not impossible that as an architect Kravets would have taken the photos, but it's also not a given. Since there is no explicit credit one way or another in the book, {{PD-Russia-1996}} could apply (published anonymously before 1942). Added: There's a 1941 expansion of the book that includes many of the same photos (though not this one) with list of illustrations at the end. They all credit the architects of the various stations, but never the photographer. The evidence is that they were contemporaneously published without attribution by a publisher with a greater ability than we have 85 years later to identify and credit the photographer. Absent other information, we can consider the date of publication in assessing copyright, which in this case falls within the time covered under {{PD-Russia-1996}}. It is a valid reason when it interferes with the image of the University itself. The Google page of UIC Barcelona takes this image which is completely outdated and does not correspond to the university's branding, preventing the new logo (and thus, identity) of the university from being used. Wikimedia Commons isn't Google. So deleting the image here wouldn't change, what Google is showing. The current logo has been placed on all relevant pages in Wikimedia projects. To clarify, I did indeed upload this photo myself in order to test and better understand the image contribution process on Wikimedia Commons. It was a learning experience for me as a new user.

However, on reflection, I realized that I didn't want this personal photo to be publicly available on the Internet, as I'm very keen to preserve my privacy. I hadn't anticipated this when I did my initial test.

I want to assure you that I am not Thomas Truong and have no connection with this person. The use of this name was just a poor choice on my part to name the test file.

I sincerely apologize for any confusion and hassle this may have caused. It was absolutely not my intention to create such a situation. I appreciate your vigilance and your further inquiries.

The FOTW source claims to Wikipedia (see "Overview" section), but there is no external reference or testimonial evidence from the Panamanian authorities about the flag, leaving doubts about its existence. The flag was deleted in 2014, but was again uploaded in 2018. In 2023 there was a DR but failed because was "widely used" in Wikimedia projects. Now, I removed in all projects and again call the DR because blatant hoax, there's not any source besides FOTW (There is no official document from the Panamanian government that validates its existence). This flag is very possibly a hoax, the source doesn't clarify under what legal basis the flag was made and local specifications from a Panamanian or Guna website. It could be a misinterpretation of the Guna Yala flag (since they are of the same ethnic group), there do not seem to be other sources that support this, not even the Guna General Congress (highest tribal body) seems to have registered a Wargandi flag, only from Guna Yala. This flag has no use in Wikimedia projects currently (which is why the deletion request was rejected in 2023). The source claimed in the file (apparently not updated since 2000) shows a model almost similar to that of the flag of Guna Yala (neighboring region of Wargandí, but of the same ethnic group called "Guna"). As argued in the 2023 DR, there is no reference from Guna tribal authorities in a design with white stripe (only yellow stripe is valid), so it could be a false or misrepresented design of Guna Yala flag but without approval from local authorities. Files have promotional descriptions and aren't in use. Due to the large amount of potential G10 tags, opening a DR instead for the second group of 1442 odd files (the rest of the user's uploads).

Keep some/many of those. Some seem useful and just copied the description from source like lots or most of other media from other places like youtube (V2C does it by default). Lots of those files could be deleted but I'll probably go with keep for all the other files users other than the uploader list here as worth keeping. The ones I noticed getting DRd and which seem useful are File:Venice Beach 4K Drone in Los Angeles CA.webm and File:Lightning at Devlins Inlet.jpg. Speedy keep I found one of the files nominated here while browsing a category.

According to the filenames listed here, and my random sampling of the actual files, this collection of images is of a reasonable quality and covers a variety of interesting subjects. The fact that they are not in use is irrelevant. Many of them do not have promotional descriptions; those that do can be fixed.

There needs to be some kind of rule against mass nominations, except where there is evidence that the entire collection that is nominated is worthy of deletion, and no such evidence has been presented here. Brianjd (talk) 12:19, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not all of the files have promotional descriptions and I hope "not in use" is not reason enough on its own to delete files. No propmotional description found in:

The first two are good photographs, the last one I have doubts about.

These three are a very small sample which I tested because I recently made changes and I got an alert for. Before nominating files for deletion, you should be certain that all nominated files are indeed out of scope, not guessing, especially not if you nominate so many files. Keep It's very rare that a bulk nomination of such breadth and tenuous rationale would be justified. In this case I really can't see it. I've just sampled ten of these and there was just one File:2024-02-17 16-08-25 ILCE-7CM2 DSCCT8271 DxO (53724458508).jpg that could, at all, be questioned as having any 'promotional' aspect.

If the issue with the descriptions rather than the images, then the fix is to change the descriptions, not delete the images. Andy Dingley (talk) 20:25, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Andy Dingley, Some clarification about my DR: Prolete uploaded 300ish images from flickr about wrestling with promotional titles in their EXIF data. I looked over 210 of them with VFC, and nominated them for deletion, with a note that I would look for the rest of the uploads later. Based on my unclear rationale, Jeff G. tagged the rest of Prolete's uploads using the same rationale. I had seen these earlier uploads, and they all were fine, so I erred on the side of caution when tagging file for the initial DR. Sorry for the mess.

Keep File:Opheffingsuitverkoop.jpg - I do not see anything that looks like a promotional description, not in the Dutch description, nor the English one (which is a good translation of the Dutch). On the contrary, this is about a closeout (sale), so the shop does not exist anymore. And it is the only photo in color that I could find for Category:Closeouts (sale) in the Netherlands.
